Help for Pimples

Do you need help for pimples?  Pimples Pimples!  They are annoying.   Are you constantly asking yourself “what can I do about acne”?

Pimples Pimples!

It’s better to prevent acne breakouts than to have to treat them.  Unfortunately, once you get a pimple or a breakout, you have to let it run its course.  Otherwise, you run the risk of damaging your skin by either picking, squeezing, or over using products that will dry out your skin.

The hard part is that you have to constantly watch your skin – paying attention to what it is doing.  This can be hard to do, what with life and all.  On top of that, you have to pay attention to hormone fluctuations throughout the month.  Fun!??!

With all your efforts, what are you to do when you do get a pimple or a breakout?  I’ll offer some tips to look your best even when your skin isn’t cooperating with you.

Help for pimples:  Spot treatments

There are extreme measures you can take such as corticosteroid shots, giving by a dermatologist.  This can help keep the pimples from swelling and while it can work, it’s hard to get to the doctor each time you have a breakout.

Plus, who wants to get shots in their face all the time.  It’s not good for your skin to do this.  Although annoying, allowing the skin to heal is a better option.  There is one great way to stop the swelling and it doesn’t include shots or extreme measures.

My best suggestion is to put some ice on it.  Ice is great to keep swelling down.  As soon as you feel it coming on, go grab the ice.  It will help with the acne bumps.  And, you only need to do it for about 2 minutes at a time, about 3 times a day.

Whatever you do, never put heat on a pimple.  lce is always better for inflammation.  If you put heat on it, you’re asking for trouble because it will just make it bigger.  Obviously, that’s not what you want.

Afterwards, you can put a topical benzoyl peroxide treatment – also known as a spot treatment.  This is the best help for pimples.  Two steps:  ice, then benzoyl peroxide.  The ice helps the swelling; the benzoyl peroxide kills the bacteria.  So simple and so effective.

If, by chance, you have a huge breakout, the spot treatments won’t be as effective.  However, the ice will still do wonders for the inflammation so that is the best help for pimples.

Other options

I have read that ibuprofen can help with inflammation of acne but I’m not sure this is the best course of action.  I would recommend using the ice and the spot treatments rather than ingesting any type of medication – even if over the counter.
