Moment of Silence

Explosion February 20, 2023
Yesterday, there was an explosion at a foundry in Bedford / Oakwood Village. I actually heard one of the explosions but didn’t know what it was. It wasn’t until my neighbor texted me the picture of the black smoke that I knew something really bad happened. I could see it from my backyard and my driveway. The smoke was so bad and I could hear fire trucks, ambulances and helicopters.

I checked online and found the coverage. I couldn’t believe what I saw. The whole side of the building was blown out onto parked cars in the parking lot. A good portion of the building was on fire and there were multiple fire engines there trying to contain the fire and most probably, trying to keep it from exploding again. My heart sank for the people that were in the building and their families. So, I’d like to offer a moment of silence.

Moment of Silence
There is one known fatality and about a dozen people who were injured in the fire at the I. Schumann & Co. foundry on Alexander Road yesterday. I give this moment of silence to those people and their families.
