International Women’s Day

Yes, ladies, we have a Day!  March 8 is our day to Celebrate International Women’s Day.  Women around the world – it’s your day to shine!

International Women’s Day Celebrated!

It’s a day to celebrate – March 8 is your day!  Around the world, women are being recognized.

Why?

First of all, why not?  Second of all, we need a day to focus on the rights of women.  Females, like all people, have the right to well, have rights!  Everyone deserves the basic human dignities; everyone deserves life, happiness and fairness.  Don’t you agree?  This is the day to do it.  Even the United Nations started to celebrate back in the late 70’s.

Inequalities

Did you know that women earn less than 25% of our male counterparts around the world?  Yep, the same job that your male friend down the hall is doing, he’s doing it for more pay.

Did you know that 1/3 of women experience some type of abuse (sexual or physical)?  Look around you.  If you’re talking to 2 other women and you’ve never been abused, one of the 2 of the others have.  That’s terrible.

I actually can’t list all the inequalities that women face – there’s a lot.  But today is the day to celebrate and to keep fighting strong for all our rights.

Colors of this Day

Every significant day has their color.  Wear these colors for today:

  • Purple – because it signifies justice.
  • Green – because it signifies hope, growth and renewal.
  • White – because it signifies innocence.

Wear these colors today on International Women’s Day!  Be proud to be a woman!

Inspiration

Need some inspiration?  Here are some quotes to help you get inspired about your rights and those of other women you know!

Stand strong – there are intelligent women all around the world and each one of them deserve social, economic, and cultural equality.  What will you do today to celebrate?
