Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! – it’s time to have fun!  Whether you’re a true leprechaun or not, it’s fun to celebrate this Irish Holiday!  Plus, with spring around the corner, green is everywhere!

Who is St. Patrick?

St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland.  He was a Christian missionary.  He was taken by pirates when he was just a teenager and sold into slavery.  You can read more about the history of St. Patrick here.  Today, though, we associate this saint with March 17.

What are leprechauns?

St. Patrick’s Day isn’t the same without these guys (or gals).  You see them everywhere on signs and even shirts but we know they are not real.  Leprechauns are fictional but they’re still fun!  They always have a beard and wear those funny hats and awesome outfits.  Sometimes, they are sporting a bow tie and even a cane. You just can’t have this Holiday without them!

Shamrocks

It’s a young clover!  This is a symbol of all things Irish.  Who among us hasn’t sat on the grass just looking at the shamrocks, hoping to find a 4 leafed clover?  It’s almost meditative and not a bad idea when you need to just relax!  They’re associated with good luck – mostly because they are so hard to find.

A day to have fun!

Whether you’re Irish or not, it’s still a great excuse to have fun.  Between the corned beef sandwiches and the green beer to all the other ‘green’ things you can enjoy today, do it!  I know I always talk about watching what you eat so that you don’t add more toxins to your body, but life is about having fun and enjoying it.  So, don’t feel guilty about today.  You can still enjoy the day.  In fact, you can add broccoli to your meal, it’s green and no one will know you’re trying to help detox your body from all the other ‘stuff’ you’ve consumed.  Or, if you want to moderate what you are putting in your body, do it and more power to you!  But, if want to go all in, then on March 18, you may need to detox.  You can do this at home!

Whatever you do, just have fun – Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
