Super bowl Skincare

If you love watching football, especially the Super Bowl, you probably also love the food that goes with it.  Super bowl skincare is easy.

Football

I will admit that football isn’t my favorite sport.  I don’t like to watch it but I do like the food that comes with it.  That’s why I’m talking about super bowl skincare.  While the food that goes with watching football isn’t necessary good for you (yes, it can cause inflammation in the body and cause all sorts of hormonal issues), there are ways to still enjoy football and the food.

Super Bowl Skincare

I don’t know a lot of people that don’t like to watch football so when the Super Bowl comes around, there is a lot of excitement.  Like I said, I’m not a huge fan but I do love the food.  So many choices:

  • Beer (or alcohol of choice, like wine, etc.)
  • Chicken wings / hot wings
  • Nuts
  • Various kinds of dips and chips – like taco dips or chips and salsa
  • Chili…and if you’re like me, corn bread.
  • No vegetables

These are just a few of the foods you may have when watching the Super Bowl.  And, it’s just fun to hang out.  What if you want to do better this year and eat better?  It’s hard.  You may have told yourself that you were going to do ‘Dry January’ but now it’s time for the Super Bowl and you are afraid you will be tempted.

So how do you eat better during the Superbowl so that your skin doesn’t suffer?  I’ll tell you.

Let’s take each one of those one by one…

Alcohol

Whatever your drink of choice is, be it beer, wine, or spirits, try kombucha instead.  It’s flavorful and fizzy and it’s good for you.  With all the B vitamins, you know your skin will look amazing – better than it did if you dehydrated yourself and your skin with alcohol.  And, unless you want to completely eliminate any alcohol, you can still have a drink.  Instead of 4 beers, have one and then a kombucha.  Don’t forget the water!!!  8-10 cups a day.

Chicken wings / hot wings

I love hot wings but I only will allow myself to have them once per year…and that’s on the Super Bowl.  The best way I know how to indulge is by baking my hot wings.  I also remove the skin.  Sure, not as fun as the fried, full fat version but still good and if you’re trying to do better this year, this is the way to do it.

Nuts

Nuts are great for you so I’m going to allow this one – just make sure they are raw and preferably unsalted.  There are so many benefits to eating nuts, including fiber and protein.  Your skin will definitely thank you because of all the vitamin E!

Chips and dip

This one is hard.  It would be better to forego the fried potato chips or tortillas all together.  If you have some, don’t overindulge.  An alternative is to have some pickles or olives instead.  Even better, have a vegetable platter.

Chili

I’m not super opposed to chili.  You can either have a vegetarian chili or a beef chili.  Some will argue that you shouldn’t eat beef.  I don’t disagree that you shouldn’t eat it all the time.  Red meat can contribute to health problems.  So, make that pot of chili for some protein and so you can stay fuller longer.

No vegetables

You absolutely need some vegetables.  Add some celery to those baked chicken wings.  Cut up some carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, and bell peppers.  Those vitamins and minerals in the vegetables are great for your skin.

Take care of your skin

While it’s fun to indulge sometimes, we can make better choices so that we feel good and our skin looks good.  Every little bit helps.  So for Super Bowl Skincare, do the right thing and take care of your skin by making better choices.  You can do it.
