Babo Sunscreen Review

Last month I told you how I fell to the marketing campaigns and bought a product that I didn’t do research on.  Because of that, I had to find a new sunscreen.  Here is my Babo sunscreen review and my results.

Marketing works – obviously!

Marketing!  We know it happens and we know companies do it.  They do it because it works.  To me, marketing can be the big lie because so many of us do not do our research.  I always knew about marketing because when I was younger, I didn’t do research.  What I did was more of a trial and error:

  1.  I would buy something that I saw on TV or that a friend used.
  2. With the only knowledge of someone else using it for whatever skin condition I also had, I proceeded to use the product without understanding HOW to use it or IF it was right for my skin type.
  3. RESULT:  sensitivity or breakouts!
  4. Try another product I saw on TV or that a friend used.
  5. Cycle continues…

This played out numerous times.  I didn’t understand why products that seemingly promised good results never did.  What was my problem?

The problem

There are a few things going on here.  I didn’t:

  • Understand my skin type
  • Look at any ingredients and if those ingredients would be good for me (i.e. my skin type)
  • Know about proper skin cleansing
  • Understand anything about skin exfoliation, including how often I should exfoliate according to my skin type.
  • Realize diet had anything to do with my skin
  • Use sunscreen because I thought it would make me breakout.

I did:

  • Go out in the sun (without sunscreen) thinking that it would clear up my acne.
  • Eat whatever I wanted.

Making a change

I vowed from a young age to figure things out and that’s why I created Nutt So Ruff.  You can read more About Us – in fact, it took a long time for me to figure everything out because I didn’t realize my habits were contributing to my issues.  I eventually did, though – until I fell for the marketing again!

I tried a sunscreen that I eventually figured out wasn’t the product for me so I had to change, once again – and learn that I needed to be constantly vigilant in paying attention to the ingredients in my skin care routine.  As promised, here is my Babo sunscreen review:

Babo results:

I went on vacation recently and wanted to see how this sunscreen would do for me.  Here’s my Babo sunscreen review.  The ingredients looked OK, with some ingredients that I am still keeping an eye on.  This review will focus on how my skin reacted to the sunscreen.

  1. The sunscreen went on smoothly.  It does contain zinc and generally those are thicker and harder to rub in but this one wasn’t too bad.
  2. I used this on all my problem areas, including my face, neck, shoulders, back, and chest.  I was worried that I would breakout.

My results were good because I didn’t breakout nor did I get any sunburn (or a suntan) so I would give this a thumbs up for now.  I will continue to use the tube until it is finished or until I get a bad reaction.  My hope is that the ingredients are OK for me and I don’t breakout.  I’ll continue to use it and will post any changes, if any.

I’ll also add the Environmental Working Group (EWG) rate this as a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is the best and 10 is the worst.  So, a 2 rating is pretty good.   You can read the full report here, but basically the only moderate concern was for the ingredient Rosa Canina fruit oil due to possible allergens and moderate organ toxicity.

So, that’s my Babo Sunscreen review.  I’d love to hear from you if you’ve tried this sunscreen and your results.  Or, if you have a different suggestion, I am happy to try that one.  Please contact me and I’d be happy to look at another product and their ingredients.
