Skin types

Since everyone’s skin is different, different masks can help these different types.  For help determining your skin type, click here.

Sensitive or dry skin

A cream mask is great for people that have a lot of sensitivity or if the skin is dry.  The drier you are, the duller your skin will look.  A cream face mask can also help with anti-aging because they generally contain a lot of fatty acids.  Anything with oils like avocado or coconut will be especially wonderful for dry skin; shea butter is helpful too.  For sensitive skin, look for ones that contain chamomile or aloe – which are especially soothing to this skin type.

Don’t use this type, though, if you have oily skin as it can cause more pimples.  Instead, try this…

Oily or acne prone?

This skin type benefits from a clay mask but you can also try something that is already in your fridge.

Milk for skin

  1. Try yogurt – there are great probiotics that your skin could use and you’ll love how your skin feels after putting some plain whole milk yogurt on your face.
  2. Soured milk – dairy products like milk contain alpha hydroxy acids, such as lactic and glycolic acids.  This helps get rid of dead skin cells, exfoliation and even helps with pH levels.  It also helps boost collagen and reducing fine lines and wrinkles.  Plus, the good news is that even if you have a milk allergy, you can still derive the benefits with a topical application.  The Skinny on AHA’s tells you how.
  3. Find one that contains charcoal.
