Does dry brushing work
Have you ever heard of dry brushing your skin? What is it good for? Why use it? More importantly, does dry brushing work?
What is dry brushing?
Dry brushing is a way to exfoliate skin, but it also helps with circulation and building collagen. It even helps with water retention so if you’re feeling a bit bloated, it may be something to try.

But what does it entail exactly?
Does Dry Brushing Work
The short answer is yes! I can tell you that I’ve been dry brushing for a few months now. I wasn’t a believer initially.

Not only did it help the appearance of cellulite on my thighs but it also helped the puffiness on my face. Just like different levels of our Nutt So Ruff scrub bars, I use a different brush on my face than I do the rest of my body because I like a softer brush for the sensitive skin on my face. But, how does dry brushing work and how?
The way it works is that it helps to unclog pores and to remove toxins because it allows the lymphatic system to do its job more effectively and efficiently. Plus, it feels great! If you’ve never dry brushed before, it may feel weird at first but by the end of the first session, you’ll enjoy the feeling of the soft brush against your skin.

How to dry brush
You first need a firm, natural brush. They are readily available. My top pick for a dry brush is this one. This is an affordable option. Unlike other beauty routines, your body should not be wet when you do this; however, it does need to be clean – no lotions, creams or perfumes. I generally take a shower at night but since the body needs to be completely dry, I wait to dry brush until right before I go to bed.
Start at either end (top or bottom – meaning head to toe or toe to head) and start brushing in gentle, upward movements. It should take only a couple minutes to do and it will feel great! Your skin will start to look amazing too!
Note about dry brushing your face: since the skin on your face is the most sensitive, you can skip doing this to your face – using your Nutt So Ruff Face scrub to exfoliate the dead skin on your face.
How often should you this?
This one is easy – you can do this everyday or you can do it once a week. Doing it everyday will give you faster results but if you only have time to do once a week, that’s fine too. It’s not like regular exfoliation where it depends on your skin type. I’ll bet, though, that as you do it, you’ll want to keep doing it. Dry, dead skin will be removed, uncovering your beautiful skin!
Clean your brush
Before I leave you with this, I want to make sure to tell you that you must clean your dry brush every week if you dry brush daily. If you’re only doing it once a week, then you only need to clean once a month. It’s easy (and similar to how you clean your hair brushes).
Soft brush for face
If you’re looking for a dry brush to use, I especially like the Baby Hairbrush from Keababies. Even though it’s meant for babies’ hair / scalp, it would be a great brush using soft goat hair for your face: Use code Softbrush for a 10% discount on any of their products. See it on Pinterest.
So, if you’re still asking yourself ‘does dry brushing work’, give it a try and see for yourself. Not only will other people notice, but you may be surprised by the results! Try it!
