Make your Dad happy

Make your Dad happy

Make your Dad happy!  Father’s Day is coming soon so it’s time to start thinking of ways to celebrate Dad!  Here are my suggestions!

Dad / Father / Daddy

What do you call your Dad?  Is it Dad, Father, Daddy?  It probably has changed over time, as you got older.  I still sometimes call my Dad, Daddy.  The older I get and the older he gets, I don’t want to forget the feeling of when I was a child when my sister and I would play with my Dad outside.  No matter what you call your father, he should be celebrated.  And, what better way to make your Dad happy than on Father’s Day – every year we have that opportunity.

Father’s Day

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19th this year.  One of the most common gifts to give Dad is something for his outdoor grille.  We all know Dads who love to grille, is your dad one of them?  Whether it’s a brand new grill or an apron or even some seasonings for all the meat he’s going to make, grilling gifts are so popular!!!

So, what are some other top ways to bring joy and happiness to your Dad?  Here are some of my favorites:

  1. If he’ll let you, grill with him.  Stand out there when your dad is grilling and just have a good time.  Grab some lemonade (or beer if you’re into that) and just enjoy the time together.  Grill up some hot dogs, brats or some burgers and just laugh and talk about anything.  Your dad will love it.
  2. Help him with yard work.  Maybe even cut his grass.  Some dads really like to cut grass so maybe just help him with the weeding.  Trimming the bushes is also another great way to help with yard work and make your dad happy.
  3. Go to a ball game.  If your dad likes sports, grab a couple tickets to a local sports event and make a day of it.  This is especially great if you did this with your Dad when you were younger.

Make your Father-in-law happy

Maybe you want to do something special for your Father-in-law?  Awesome!  Some suggestions I have used in the past are:

  • Make his favorite cookies – Dad’s love sweets and they don’t always get them – whip up a batch of their all-time favorites.
  • Have a cookout!  Or, have him over for his favorite meal – maybe he loves your roast chicken – make it a special day with his favorite meal.

Making Dad’s Happy

Make it extra special by making sure you give a great big hug!  Dad’s need love too and a hug is the perfect way to show him how much you care and appreciate dad, for everything he did for you.

Gratefulness

No matter what, you should also feel thankful / grateful for your Dad.  Without him, you wouldn’t be here.  Don’t take anything for granted because you don’t know how long you’ll be together.  Hugs!  Make your Dad happy today (and everyday)!  Below is a picture of a hat my Dad owns.  I came home one day to find him wearing it.  At first, I was mortified but then I realized that I love him just the way that he is – I love that weirdo!  Dad, I truly love you – you’re the best!
