What is forever chemicals
What is forever chemicals effect on acne? Can you really have skin problems with these chemicals? You may be surprised to know.
What is forever chemicals
Before we can get into how these forever chemicals effects our skin, I need to first explain what is forever chemicals. Forever chemicals are harmful to your health and well-being; however, most aren’t labeled that way. In fact, the EPA wants to label forever chemicals as hazardous substances.

These forever chemicals are most commonly referred to as: PFA’s. The problem with these substances (i.e. chemicals) is that they can leach into our food and drinking water. There are many ways this can happen:
- When you go to your favorite take-out place and order food to take home, you may get your food in a plastic container. These containers may contain PFA’s. When warm or hot food is placed into these containers, the heat could start leaching into your food.
- What about when you finish your food and throw away that container in the trash? Over time, the PFA’s in that plastic container can leach into the soil that can contaminate your food AND drinking water.

Effect on our body
It’s not something we think about often, especially since it’s not something we can see – but forever chemicals have a real impact on our lives. Not only has it been linked to certain cancers but it can also have an effect on our hormones. These hormone disruptors can effect many areas of our lives. Here are just some examples:
- Acne
- Heavy menstrual bleeding
- Fibroids
- Low estrogen
- High estrogen
- Migraines
These are just some of the effects of endocrine disruptors. Most likely, though, you don’t realize the link – again, because we don’t see the culprit. We don’t know what is forever chemicals because we don’t see them – we only know something is wrong when we’re dealing with adult acne or other hormonal issues.
Animals are affected too
In fact, I was recently at an aquarium in Southern Florida and their research shows chemicals are a problem for alligators. It’s obviously a big problem and it’s important to start recognizing.

What can you do?
Sadly, we really need to watch what we are doing because these PFA’s could be in many facets of our lives. If we take the take-out food example, it can be overwhelming. I realize that always making your own meals isn’t an option. You can do other things like using re-usable produce bags (the environmentally friendly ones), paying attention to products you buy, and using glass rather than plastic.
Making these small changes can have a huge impact and this is why I always say that you don’t need to spend a lot of money on skin care. When you make these changes, your body will feel and look better and you won’t need to spend all the money you used to on skin care. Save your money and uncover your beautiful skin!
