Bacteria close up

I’m probably on the edge of being a “germaphobe”, but understanding bacteria close up is essential to deal with whatever ailments you may be dealing with, like acne.

What is bacteria?  Bacteria close up

Germs are everywhere and they can cause illness.  We all know that.  Bacteria are one-celled organisms and they are everywhere, including in and on our bodies.  And that’s not a bad thing.  Without them, we wouldn’t be able to digest food.  So, bacteria is essential.

But we all know that not all bacteria are beneficial and can cause us many problems (i.e., illnesses) – such as acne.  When it comes to acne, there are some guidelines to follow.  And I will give you the clear skin prescription.  I will also give you the “acne free in 3 days” secret.

Commonly, the bacteria that cause acne is called P. acnes.  When there is a lack of oxygen, they do really well.  They love the oil on our skin, called sebum.  This bacteria lives in the skin, not on the top.  This means that the over-the-counter skin care products that are targeted to disinfect your acne won’t help you here.  Yeah, exactly – that marketing is misleading and product labels are deceiving.

This bacterium also grows very fast.  As this happens, chemicals are pushed out which kills the lining of the hair follicle.  Luckily, we have white blood cells that try to help by killing the bacteria.  If you’ve ever felt a pimple starting to form, this is what is happening.  As the blood cells invade and enzymes are released, pimples will be able to “pop”.  There’s your bacteria close up so now, what about seeing someone to help?

Should I see a dermatologist for acne?

This depends on what type of acne you have.  If you have inflammatory acne, not the “whiteheads” or “blackheads” type (such as blackheads on nose), you may want to consider it.  Everyone is different.  With inflammatory acne, your immune system is responding to your acne issues.  Some people get really big pimples, and this is the cystic type of acne, which needs professional extraction.

Acne treatment worse before better?

Why acne gets worse before it gets better?  As skin cells turnover, (for example, from removal of dead skin cells), it can bring out the inflammation.  But it’s important to remove those dead skin cells and to do it patiently.  You don’t want to exfoliate your skin every day, which can exacerbate a problem.  Learn to exfoliate according to your skin type and don’t aggravate it.  Think clear skin and you’ll soon be on your way with acne no more secrets!

Is fresh air good for acne?

Perhaps not exactly the fresh air per se, but getting out in the world and getting exercise is good for you and your skin.  Plus, in a way, fresh air is good for all parts of your body, including your skin as it’s the largest organ we have.  All the chemicals and artificial fragrances that accumulate inside are detrimental to our bodies.  Fresh air can clear away some of the toxins we are exposed to, especially those we are breathing in.  So, I do think that fresh air is good for acne.

Get acne free in 3 days  – the clear skin prescription!

After your bacteria close up, what can you do to get acne free?  First, wash your face regularly – day and night but no more than this.  Washing too much can strip away oils that our skin needs to stay hydrated and healthy.  Plus, removing oil will cause your skin to produce more oil, which will produce more acne.

Lastly, you can use a benzoyl peroxide cream.  I have used Oxy10 Spot Treatment with good results.  This is the one that will dry out a zit very well.  Apply twice a day to start, you can increase it to 3 times a day for very severe acne.  But there are a couple things to be careful of.

  1.  If your skin become red, you need to decrease the use of the product.  The reason is that the high strength benzoyl peroxide is drying out your skin too much if you are using it too much.  Start with using 2 times a day and if you feel it is decreasing your acne, continue with 2 times a day.  If you think it needs 3 applications, you can increase it but as soon as you see any irritation, redness or dryness, go back down to 2 times a day.
  2. Please be aware that this ingredient (benzoyl peroxide) can “bleach” fabric.  So, be careful where you apply this.  If it is going to be in contact with clothing, I would suggest wearing white so that the bleaching effect won’t be an issue.  Also be mindful of this when applying before bed because it can bleach your sheets.

So, there you go, the clear skin prescription and your bacteria close up!  Also, it doesn’t hurt to drink plenty of water to flush out toxins and eating healthy.  Do what you can to get acne free in 3 days!  Good luck!!
