Let’s take a look at food allergies
Are you allergic to anything? You may not know it but the food you’re eating can contribute to inflammation so let’s take a look at food allergies.
What is a food allergy?
A food allergy is an allergic reaction, says the Mayo Clinic. It is something that causes inflammation in the body and this can include all sorts of things, including:
- A sensation in the mouth
- Hives and swelling
- Difficulty breathing
- Stomach issues
The inflammation it causes can also turn into various skin issues and that includes acne. So, let’s take a look at food allergies.
Let’s take a look at food allergies
When you eat foods that don’t agree with you, it can show on your skin. Skin can become sensitive, red and itchy. You may also notice that you have some stomach issues.
Other symptoms can include headaches and migraines. Depending on the ingredients in the food you ate, you can have an allergic reaction that you may not have realized. Some food additives like dyes and preservatives can cause migraine headaches. For me, eating MSG always triggers a migraine as does nitrates and nitrites (found in wine and processed meats like deli meats and even hot dogs.)
Food allergies can cause acne
Food allergies can also cause acne. When you eat foods (i.e. ingredients) that your body doesn’t like, it will react. Sometimes that reaction is in the form of acne. If you are noticing stomach issues and acne, they may be related. Start looking at your food ingredients to determine if you need to cut something out. It may just save you some money and some stress of having to deal with acne…and not to mention, stomach issues.
