Loneliness can show on your face

As we age, we start seeing the signs of aging.  Loneliness can show on your face too.  Help counteract these effects by doing a couple simple things.

Aging gracefully

We are all getting older – there is nothing we can do about it.  Sure, people try.  They do this by any number of things:

  • Wearing clothes that are too young for our age.  Think string bikini at age 50.  While some people still have the bodies for it, I think clothes should be age appropriate.  When you’re 20, I get it but when we’re 50, there’s just something about it.  Just like we don’t want to see men in a banana hammock, we also don’t want to see a middle aged woman in something that is too revealing.  Age gracefully but go to the beach in something appropriate and of course, wear sunscreen and a wide brimmed hat.  You’ll thank me later.
  • Getting plastic surgery.  While advances in medicine have really come a long way, I say leave the plastic surgery behind.  I think plastic surgery is great when some type of deformity can really affect your life.  If you’ve had an accident and it has deformed you, by all means do what you can to move on.  If you’ve had breast cancer and have had to have surgery to remove tissue (and thus, your breasts), go ahead and have breast augmentation if that’s appropriate for you.  What I’m talking about here are those that are trying to use plastic surgery to look younger.

What I’m saying here is to age gracefully.  Life happens and it’s great that we have options.  But, take care of yourself so that you don’t have to go to the extreme in situations.  You are beautiful.  The more we care for ourselves by eating well, taking care of our bodies through proper exercise and self-care, the more we will feel and look beautiful.  We can’t help the aging process but there are things you can do to slow it down.

Loneliness can show on your face

Part of getting older means that you may lose friends and family – whether through change or death.  Either way, it’s hard.  Losing people in our lives can turn into loneliness and loneliness can show on your face.  So how do we change that?

As Audrey Hepburn has suggested in one of her beauty tips, lend a helping hand.  When we are lonely, we realize that others can be too.  We see the sadness in others’ faces.  Whether you lend a hand by volunteering or just by being kind, the very act can really light us up.  That is because it can light up the other person too.  It can really help to unfreeze your heart.  After a difficult time, it can be hard to love again but just doing a little bit can change that.

Life is hard but be yourself.  This can do wonders for your mood and even your skin.  Research has shown us that we can look and feel younger just by small acts of kindness.  When we feel good, we take better care of ourselves and then can take better care of others.  Value yourself and others because we all deserve a little bit of love, kindness, and compassion.  We’re all just doing the best we can.

Be kind
