Sensitive skin treatment at home

If you have sensitive skin, you need some TLC.  Skin can become inflamed for several reasons but here are some sensitive skin treatment at home.

Sensitive skin treatment at home

Taking care of sensitive skin at home can be easy.  Here’s how to treat it at home using 3 of my favorite ingredients:

  • Green tea
  • Tea tree oil
  • Propolis

Green tea for sensitive skin

One of the best sensitive skin treatment at home remedies is green tea.  You know green tea is good for your body because of the antioxidants and the amino acids, but did you know it’s great for skin care too?

If your skin is irritated and red, hydrating it with some green tea can help calm it.  The great thing is that is awesome for most skin types, and especially for sensitive and acne prone skin.

Tea tree oil for sensitive skin

Another one of my favorite sensitive skin treatment at home remedies is tea tree oil.  I love, love, love tea tree oil.  Whenever I have a blemish, I get my tea tree oil out because it helps inflammation.  Plus, it’s antibacterial and antifungal.  (I even used it with coconut oil for an awful toe fungus once…worked great, by the way!)

It’s the best.  It really shouldn’t be used straight (test it out on a small area first).  Otherwise, use with a light carrier oil.  Some options are:

  • Broccoli seed oil
  • Sweet almond oil
  • Carrot seed oil

To me, it’s better than a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment because benzoyl peroxide products can irritate your skin if overly used or the concentration is too strong.

Propolis for a sensitive skin treatment at home remedy

Do you know what propolis is?  It’s an amazing byproduct from bees.  It’s a combination of beeswax and pollen and it helps to heal skin.  It’s also an antiseptic and can help heal some problem areas.  Some benefits include:

  • cell turnover
  • clearer pores
  • keeping pores clear of bacteria that may cause pimples

Unless you have a honeybee hive – which I do – propolis may not be easy to get.  You can buy it but it can be pricey.  Still, it is an option and you may want to consider it.

One other option to consider is Mugwort.  I’ve not used this yet but I’ve read it is great for sensitive skin treatment at home option.  It’s antibacterial, antifungal, it moisturizes and it is calming just like green tea.  So, if you feel like trying it, let me know your results.
