Peptides for skin
You’ve heard of peptides for skin care but are they worth it? See how peptides work, the benefits and if it’s worth using in your skin care routine.
What are peptides in skin care
Did you know your skin already has peptides? it’s actually in your skins’ protein. The problem is we’re all getting older and as we age, we can use some help. It’s an unfortunate fact of life.
Peptides are amino acids and can help our skin in a few ways…like building blocks for your skin.

Peptides for anti-aging
Your skin needs collagen and as we age, we need more of it to keep skin from looking older (with wrinkles and fine lines). Instead of taking supplements (which you can do), you can also use skin care products that have peptides. This is because peptides help to increase collagen, which will help with wrinkles.
Other benefits of peptides for skin
There are other benefits of peptides for skin. One of those benefits is it decreases inflammation so your skin can actually look better. Less inflammation on your skin means that your skin looks healthier; there’s less redness and swollen areas like those ones you’d see around blemishes. And, speaking of blemishes, another benefits for those of us that are acne prone, is that peptides can kill acne causing bacteria.
Types of peptides for skin
You want to use a product that will sit on your skin so it can actually be absorbed – vs. a face wash that will not stay in contact with skin – and thus, be washed off. Peptides work best when they can penetrate and stay there. Also, use one that includes antioxidants in the ingredient list. Vitamin C, retinol, niacinamides and Hyaluronic acids are great to use in combination with. The only thing you don’t want to use with peptides are alpha hydroxy acids or AHA’s.
Peptides for skin can be really helpful for aging skin. Choose the right one and uncover your beautiful skin. It’s so worth it.
Note: retinol is great but not as an ingredient in sunscreen.
