Should you scrub away calluses on your feet
Foot calluses are unsightly and no one likes to have them on their feet (or anywhere on their body). Runners are especially susceptible to calluses on their feet because of the constant rubbing and friction from their shoes or socks when they run. In addition, if you ever walk outside barefoot on concrete, you could really be hurting your feet. The roughness of the concrete is creating callouses on your feet so you should never do this.
Even though calluses form as a protection to our feet, they are unsightly and we want them gone. Plus, who wants a callous on their feet or toes when we want to wear super cute shoes or flip flops? So, it’s always a good idea to go for regular pedicures (if that’s what you’re in to) or to do your own self-pedicure. If you don’t, the callus can build up too much, causing an eventual infection – which is no fun!
So, do some regular maintenance on your footsies and get those calluses down. To help control calluses altogether, try some padded running socks. You’ll feel better running if you don’t have infected calluses and your feet will look pretty too!
Next time you run and your feet feel rough and possibly painful, do regular maintenance by either going for a pedicure or doing a self-pedicure. Your feet can feel smooth again instead of rough, and gravely!
