Dry skin causes

There could be any number of causes to dry skin.  The most common is dehydration and there are a few things that can cause dehydration:

Dehydrated face skin care is an important to keep your skin hydrated and supple.  In order to continue to look timeless, it’s important to drink ample amounts of water and to stay away from alcohol.  Alcohol sucks the water right out of us and causes our skin to look and feel dry.  Along with that is diet.  If you are eating too much sodium or processed foods (as they contain a lot of salt), your body will respond by becoming dehydrated.  Your skin will suffer for it.

Are pears good for dry skin

Pears and other produce have tons of vitamins and minerals.  Pears, specifically, have lots of Vitamins A and C.  This can help with collagen production so it can help with anti-aging.  According to stylecraze.com, pears are also humectants.  Humectants helps to draw moisture to our skin so we definitely want those!  The only problem is that pears are on the EWG’s Dirty Dozen list.

What is the Dirty Dozen list?

Every year, the Environmental Working Group puts out a list of the 12 most toxic produce.  Toxic because these fruits and vegetables are sprayed with pesticides and therefore, there is pesticide residue on the produce.  This residue means that we consume this and it is for this reason that the EWG suggests to stay away from these fruits and vegetables.

Unfortunately, pears are one of them.  So, are pears good for dry skin?  Yes, but it is recommended to eat organic pears to get these benefits.  Otherwise, you’ll be consuming too many pesticides and these toxins can harm you – causing all kinds of health problems including fibroids and heavy periods, acne, and so many other problems.

What to do

I know this is disheartening – especially if you love pears.  But the good news is that you can still eat pears – just make sure they are organic.  Buy organic pears when they are on sale – not only will you save some money but they most likely will be in season so you’ll be getting the freshest pears – pears at the peak of goodness!  Plus, you’ll feel better knowing that you aren’t eating toxins.

There are ways to stop flaky skin.  The good news is that it doesn’t cost a lot of money to do!  Whether you’re dealing with perimenopausal skin care or you have some minor concerns about dryness, there are simple steps you can take.  These simple steps like eating well, drinking enough water, and watching the other environmental factors can really help dry skin.

Other things you can do for dry skin

Once you take care of all that, there are other things you can do to help your dry skin.  These include:

  • Dry brushing
  • Exfoliating

Dry brushing is a way to exfoliate our skin by using a soft but firm brush.  You basically brush your skin from bottom to top.  This can help eliminate toxins as you stimulate your lymph nodes.  Plus, it helps to dislodge dead skin.  Do this process prior to taking a shower.  Do this on a regular basis and your skin can look so much brighter, less flaky and dry, and you may even have a little bit of a glow.

Exfoliating is another great way to help dry skin.  The problem with dry skin is that dead skin cells get trapped in crevices – making our skin appear dull.  When you exfoliate on a regular basis, you can remove those dead skin cells to get that glow back.  The problem is that many people don’t know how to exfoliate or how often.  For dry skin, you only need to exfoliate one time per week.  Here is more information on how to exfoliate skin.    You can also use this selection guide for further help and try Nutt So Ruff’s face scrub for dry skin.

So you no longer have to wonder:  ‘are pears good for dry skin’.  Now you have everything you need to know about dry skin and how to help it.
