Dull looking skin causes

So, why does our skin start looking dull?  The major culprit are those dead skin cells.  Our bodies are amazing because they shed skin cells naturally but as we age, that turnover slows down.  This is one of the biggest reasons that exfoliating is very important.  We often forget about this very important habit in our skin care routine but it can do wonders to help keep you from looking gray.  It’s an easy dull skin treatment.

So aside from exfoliating regularly (again, depending on your skin type), is to ensure you do the following:

  • Drink water!!!  I can’t emphasize this enough.  Water hydrates us so we need it to keep our skin moisturized!  Do it – drink water!!
  • Watch your caffeine intake – if you’re drinking more than 2 cups of caffeine a day, that’s too much.  Ideally, no caffeine is best but even I can’t stay away from my morning cup of coffee.  Here is my daily caffeine moderation schedule.
  • Alcohol – who doesn’t need a glass of wine sometimes?  I get it.  Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or you’ve just had a long day, sometimes an alcoholic beverage is part of it.  If alcohol isn’t your thing, great!  But, if you do partake, keep this one in moderation too because it can dehydrate you.  Plus, alcohol can age you!
  • Watch your diet!  You need to eat healthfully.  Fast food, processed foods, and high sodium / high fat foods are working against you when it comes to your skin.
  • Cleanse skin regularly – but don’t overdo it.  And, of course, exfoliate – for those with dull skin, I’d recommend twice a week.  This will keep your skin looking radiant!  Buy your Nutt So Ruff facescrub bar today!
  • Face products – what you put on your face can help too.  If you use a face serum / cream, ensure it has hyaluronic acid because it helps with moisture retention (they’re easy enough to make yourself).  If it has EGF’s, all the better!
