Lip Health for the Perfect Pucker

Like your skin, your lips age and it’s important to keep them healthy.  Lip health is so important but lips are something we don’t think about.  Here are tips for lip health for the perfect pucker.

Lip Health

We know we need to take care of our skin but we often forget about our lips.

As we age, we have less oil in our oil glands.  We also lose fat and collagen in the skin, which is the reason why we start to see wrinkles and sagging skin.  Your skin actually becomes thinner!  You may not realize it, but it is happening!  And, it happens to everyone.  But, there are ways to help fight it.  I will never stop telling people that they need to wear sunscreen.

Couple this with spending time outdoors, in the elements:  sun, wind, etc. and this contributes to the aging process.  If you spend too much time outside, it’s a recipe for accelerated skin aging.  You’ll start to notice your skin being more dry, having more wrinkles or even sun spots.  This increases your changes of skin cancer.  If you don’t want your skin to start to feel or look as thick as animal hide, you need to be proactive about it’s care.

If you’re diligent about your skin health (or are still working on it), that’s great!  However, many people forget about their lips and lip health.  You also need to protect your lips because they need to be protected too.

So, wear sunscreen and make sure you wear it on your lips too.

For my lips, I use

Alba Botanica SPF 25 Lip Balm

I found they work the best for me.

Of course, if you are adamant about having a “glow”, you might consider getting a spray tan instead.  But, still ALWAYS wear sunscreen outside.

Tip:  I always check the UV Index before venturing outside.  Sometimes, the days are cloudy, and you think the UV index won’t be high, but I am surprised to find that it is.

For days when you aren’t outside but still need a lip balm, try this one from Noyah – it’s organic!.  This one is cherry but they also have other flavors like vanilla.
