Lymph Drainage Massage

I know very few people who don’t like a massage – massages are great!  They feel wonderful.  Did you know that lymph drainage massage can be so beneficial to your skin!

Massage for relaxation

If you’ve ever gone to a get a massage, you know how relaxing they can be.  They can really help wind you down, reduce tension in your muscles, and reduce anxiety.  There are different kinds of massages available and depending on your needs, you choose the one you want.  There’s the good ‘ole relaxation massage all the way to a deep tissue.

I’ve even had a Thai yoga massage which is done on a mat on the floor.  It really stretches me out and makes me feel so good.  Whatever massage you’ve had, your massage therapist may have told you to drink lots of water afterwards so that the toxins can be removed.  This is because they are manipulating your lymph nodes.

What are lymph nodes?

Lymph helps get rid of toxins in our bodies.  Your immune system is helped by your lymph nodes working properly.  When we get sick, the lymph nodes act as a filter helping our bodies remove the bad stuff.  Even if we aren’t feeling ill, it’s still beneficial to massage your lymph nodes so that any accumulating toxins can be removed, and we stay healthier and feel better.  There’s a whole lymphatic system that’s involved.

What is lymphatic drainage massage?

Lymph drainage massage works by manipulating the lymph nodes in order to ensure you have good circulation, your immune system is working efficiently, and ensuring you have the right amount of fluids.  So, when we talk about facial massages for your lymphatic system, it’s helping your body remove debris so that your skin looks and feels better.  This type of massage is especially useful if you haven’t had the best diet or haven’t had a lot of exercise because your body has slowed down.

Getting the system moving helps to filter the junk out.  Of course, it’s recommended to eat well and exercise.  If you add this type of therapy along with a healthy lifestyle program, you’ll be even better for it.

Skin types that benefit

All skin types can benefit from this therapy.  No matter if you have normal, oily, dry, sensitive or combination skin, you will see the difference.  This is because whatever toxins are there that are stuck, giving you that dryness or oiliness for example, can be dislodged and will help to improve your skin by doing lymph drainage massage.

Where to go

If you’ve ever gone to get a facial, they would most likely have done a lymphatic facial massage.  Even your hair stylist may have done some form of this massage.  It feels so good.  But, the good news is you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have this done.  You can actually do this at home.  Take a look at this video to show you how a therapist does it.  You can mimic this yourself, at home, in 10 minutes.
