Why you shouldn’t eat strawberries
Do you love strawberries? Here’s one very good reason why you shouldn’t eat strawberries that you may not have realized.
Why you shouldn’t eat strawberries
I must admit that I do love strawberries. I mean, who doesn’t. Even as kids, this fruit is a winner. They’re easy to eat and plentiful. But the reason why you shouldn’t eat strawberries (well, non-organic, or conventional as they are sometimes called) is because of all the pesticide use. Strawberries are number 1 on the Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) list of the Dirty Dozen. It has high levels of pesticide residues so it would be wise to stay away from. And, strawberries always seem to be on the list so there’s no washing off the residue. In 33% of the strawberries tested, there were over 10 different pesticide residues found! Wow!

So, while you should stay away from the conventional / non-organic strawberries, I do suggest to eat the organic strawberries because of all the wonderful vitamins and nutrients found in this awesome fruit.

Nutrition in strawberries
Strawberries are packed with good stuff! There are less than 50 calories in a cup of whole strawberries and they are full of vitamin C. Plus, there’s Potassium, Vitamin B6, magnesium, iron and even calcium!
Vitamin C for skin health
Vitamin C is so good for our skin – especially for women in their 40’s. When we hit our forties, we are most likely in perimenopause and vitamin C is needed for collagen production. As we age, our collagen production goes down (boo) but it’s a part of life. Making sure we eat a balance diet full of vitamins (like Vitamin C) can help our skin.
Other foods you ‘shouldn’t’ eat
There are some other non-organic foods you shouldn’t eat. Instead, eat the organic variety of these fruits and vegetables:
