Humectants in skin care
What is a humectant? Humectants in skin care can be really beneficial for you, especially for those with dry skin but all skin types can benefit.
Humectants in skin care
What are humectants? Humectants bring moisture to the skin. Certain ingredients can actually draw moisture to your skin, allowing it to get much needed moisture.
What that means is that people who suffer from dry skin can be helped by these ingredients, especially because wrinkles look worse when skin is dry. What’s even better is for those people with oily skin. When you have oily skin, you worry about putting any type of moisturizer on your face (and sometimes your body if you suffer from body acne). This doesn’t mean that you don’t need a moisturizer. You need to keep your skin hydrated and by using products that contain humectants, you can do just that.
Humectant Highlight
One humectant is 1, 2 Hexanediol. This ingredient is also used as a preservative in skin care. While not all preservatives in skin care are good, this one seems to be one that is not toxic.
Another good humectant is glycerin. Glycerin is wonderful. We love glycerin so much that we use it in our scrub bars so not only do you get the benefits of exfoliating, you also get the benefit of pulling moisture to your skin.
Double benefits!
