Learn to cope

We live in a world that isn’t perfect.  Bad things happen to all of us – some more severe than others.  But, no matter the gravity, when something has happened to you, it seems like the end of the world.  That “thing” is important and relevant to YOU and it shouldn’t be discounted.  Either way, we need to learn to cope; otherwise, that “thing” can consume us.

When Life is too Hard

When we view life as too hard, it’s generally because we haven’t learned to cope with our situations.  If you think life isn t worth it and you’re not enjoying life, it’s time to take action.  If you feel there’s nothing to look forward to, we need to change that.  We need to learn to cope and the best way is with purpose.

Purpose

We all need a purpose.  When there is a lack of purpose, we don’t feel worthy.  There’s nothing to look forward to; there’s no joy in life.  But, when we have a purpose, we feel energized and like we can tackle any problem thrown at us.

For example, if you have kids, you’re kids may be (or should be) your purpose.  Every day that you get up is because of them.  You know why you are doing what you are doing.  You know why, when you have to get up at 5 AM for work, you do it.  Or, if you have an elderly parent and you have to help support them in some way, you know that you’re actions mean something.  Those are easy examples.  But, what if you don’t feel like you have anyone?  For sure this will make it harder to know you’re purpose.

Finding your Purpose

If you think life isnt worth living, I want Day 16 of our 30 Day Challenge to start finding your purpose.  This will take some thought on your part and it won’t be easy.  This will be a lot like when you  were trying to figure out what you wanted to be when you grew up.  But, don’t be overwhelmed.  Here’s some questions to help you figure this out.

  1. Why are you feeling that life is too much?  Was there an incident that you can look back on?
  2. And, if so, what about that incident hurt you?
  3. Do you feel like “No one understands me” and if so, why?
  4. If nothing interests you, what used to interest you?
  5. How can you turn a negative into a positive?
  6. Have you learned from your experience?
  7. Have you dealt with your experience?
  8. How can you help someone from what you went through / from what you learned?

Now, really start thinking through those questions.  When you sit down and ponder and really think through your answers, you may discover a way you can help someone get through what you went through.  How wonderful would it feel if you could help someone in that way?  If you start doing what you love and no longer feel like life is passing you by, how great would that feel for you?  Then, you have truly found your passion and reason for living.

Now, instead of “no one understands me”, it’s “I understand you and can help you”.  How AMAZING is that?!  Learn to cope with life and help someone in the process!
