National Oatmeal Day
Oatmeal is great for breakfast. It’s healthy / nutritious and that’s why you should eat it for National Oatmeal Day on Sunday, October 29!
Is Oatmeal good for you?
The answer is an obvious yes because it has soluble fiber and we all know we could use more fiber in our diets. Soluble fiber can lower cholesterol and blood glucose levels. For me, this is great because, as I get older, I want to keep my cholesterol in check. It’s easy to slip on eating good food. I like sweets so that doesn’t help cholesterol and in order to maintain the right blood sugar, we need to have enough fiber.

So, while I would rather have a cinnamon roll, I often choose to eat oatmeal instead. Plus, it’s great for our guts too – this means better weight control.

Benefits of Oatmeal
So, why should you eat oatmeal on National Oatmeal Day and really, throughout the week? Here are my top reasons:
- Weight control – this is huge!
- Vitamins and minerals (B1 and manganese)
- Helps your gut with good bacteria
- Antioxidant / anti-inflammatory properties

Is Oatmeal good for skin?
Oats are great for skin. Not only does it help to keep your skin hydrated but it can also help itchiness and tightness of skin. Plus, it has vitamin E. It’s so gentle for your skin and that’s the biggest reason why we use it in our Nutt So Ruff scrub bars. Oats are also great to help exfoliating (ah, another reason!). We need help, especially as we age, to remove dead skin cells. Getting all the help we need can really help to keep our skin looking young. Plus, it’s great for all skin types.
Another benefit: It’s cheap! You can find oatmeal just about anywhere.
National Oatmeal Day
So for all these reasons, eating oatmeal and using it in your skincare is the perfect reason to have oats on National Oatmeal Day!
