Weekend depression
It’s FINALLY the weekend! Yay! How many times are you excited when Friday rolls around. TGIF – am I right? It’s been a long week and you’re ready for a nice, relaxing weekend. Who can blame you? You had a tough week, your boss was all over you about a project you haven’t finished and you’re just darn tired from life. So, it’s finally time for you to relax on the weekend but then something happens – Weekend Depression! What’s up with that?
Weekend Depression – what is it and why does it happen?
What is this depression we are feeling on the weekend – a time when we should feel relaxed and using the time to re-energize ourselves? First, it’s good to have the awareness about depression. If you have the awareness, at least you can actively do something about it. It can happen for many different reasons.
For example, you may just feel overwhelmed. Whether it’s from work, school, taking care of family / loved ones or anything in life – it’s just darn overwhelming. If you aren’t satisfied with the way your life is going, it can get really hard to get through the day. Then, when you finally make it to the weekend, you have a hard time decompressing because that feeling of ‘what to do when life sucks’ is still nagging at you.
Workplace Depression
When you don’t have a passion in your life and you just have a job, those 8 hours each day can feel like an eternity. But, you need a paycheck so you keep going. Each day, though, it gets harder and harder and it gets to the point that you have no energy to do anything about it. This is depression – plain and simple. When you feel worthless in life and in your job, you start to wonder “am I being overdramatic?”. It’s not you. Many people feel this way and don’t know how to get out of it.
