If you’re like me, you might have some frustrations with your skin.  Until you figure out how to deal with it, it is going to be annoying.  No matter what you may try to do, it seems that your skin just doesn’t want to listen – or for that matter, behave!  There are so many facets to skin care that it can really bring the most patient among us to tears.  Be it diet, skin care products, or what seems just bad luck, dealing with skin care issues can be a huge struggle.

That is why it has always been my mission to provide the information in a simple, understandable format so that you can learn about skin care and understand what it is that Your Skin needs.  There are many different skin types and knowing yours can go a long way to how your skin looks and feels.  But, there are other ways to help your skin and here are 2 ways to jump start your skin care…

2 Ways to Jump Start your Skin Care

You may be surprised to find out that these 2 ways to jump start your skin care have nothing to do with the products you are using or the foods you are eating.  That’s because many things affect our skin.  If you want to have amazing skin, the two ways to help this are:

  1. Get enough sleep
  2. Start meditating

This may seem a bit strange to you but let me explain.

Sleeping for skin care

When we go to bed at night, it is a chance for our skin to repair itself.  Our blood brings necessary and nutrient rich oxygen to the surface and amino acids help increase collagen.  Another cool thing is that any toxins we have floating around inside can drain.  But, if you aren’t sleeping well, you retain fluids.  Unfortunately, this includes under your eyes and this is when you see puffy eyes.  Now, some of this might be because of your genes but not getting enough sleep only contributes to the problem.

So, if you’re having a problem with your skin, check in with yourself to see if sleep may be an issue.  Lack of sleep can cause skin problems and even premature aging.

Meditating for skin care

Ah, meditation.  For some people, it’s a regular habit and they can do it.  For others, it’s too hard.  You know you should do it because it may help you calm down and help with stress or anxiety.  You even hear that it can help you sleep better at night yet starting to meditate and keeping up with it is hard.  We’re just too busy and it’s hard to find time.  But, what if I told you that meditating can help your skin?

It’s true, since meditating can help with stress management, it can help with your skin.  There is such a thing as stress acne so managing it can help with not only acne but also premature aging.  Stress that we experience means more hormones (specifically adrenaline and cortisol) and this isn’t good.  If the levels are too high for too long, it can really hurt your skin.  So, if you want to look younger and have better skin, meditating can help.  But, I’ll show you an easy way.

If you struggle with meditating because your mind won’t stop or you’re too busy, here’s an easy way to start.

  1. Set a timer for one minute.
  2. Sit down, close your eyes and get comfortable.
  3. Re-set that timer because by the time you did all that, the one minute is up I am sure.
  4. Now, just sit there.  That’s meditating.
  5. Good job.

Now, if your mind wanders, that’s OK.  The fact that you sat down and tried to meditate is meditation.  Keep doing that every day and you will see you will get better at it.
