Diet is definitely something you will need to get under control.  If you’re not putting the right foods into your body, your liver will need to work even harder and may eventually become too tired to do all the hard work you’re making it do.

Home remedies for liver cleansing:

  • Watch what you are putting into your body and start reading labels.  Organic, whole foods are ideal but if you are unable to do that 100%, follow the 80 / 20 rule where 80% of the time, you consume organic, whole foods.  In a culture where quick (fast) food is common because of busy lives, it’s easy to see that it’s the other way around (20 whole foods / 80 junk).  Let’s turn that around!
    • Consider drinking a warm cup of lemon / apple cider vinegar water.  It’s so easy!  Prepare a warm cup of water, add 1 tsp honey, squeeze the juice of half a lemon, add 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar.  Do this each morning for help detox your liver.
  • Start paying attention to your cleaning products.  How much of them contain fragrances or other unnatural substances that could be toxic to your liver?  Make a conscious effort to remove these products from your home and replace them with more natural products.  Or make your own cleaning products like this vinegar / water solution for a variety of cleaning jobs.
  • Next, look at your personal hygiene products.  This includes makeup, deodorant, shampoo / conditioner, moisturizers.  These have a lot of chemicals that you don’t want your body to absorb so start getting rid of them.
  • Sweat!  Start working out and sweating!  Get rid of toxins by sweating them out.

Vitamins that support liver detox

As you are eating a more healthful diet, you’ll start getting more B vitamins and antioxidants from your food, which will help detox your liver.  All those lettuces (like romaine and spinach) and berries for antioxidants will give you the vitamins to help your journey.  Broccoli and various sprouts are also great sources of vitamins for detoxification.
