I have found that there are a few tell-tale signals that sugar is being consumed way more than it should be. There are mental signals, physical, as well as some biological signs. Here’s the breakdown:
Mental signs
The first sign is brain fog. Do you find that you have brain fog? Brain fog can lead to anxiety. This doesn’t feel good – not only does it feel like our brain isn’t working but then we’re anxious about it. If you’re eating too much sugar, you likely are feeling these affects. And, this is just one of the 8 signs you are eating too much sugar.
The second of the 8 signs you are eating too much sugar is irritability. When your blood sugar spikes and then crashes, you feel irritable. This can cause you to ‘snap’ at the people you love, perhaps yelling at them for no reason. Everything irritates you yet you don’t know why.
Physical signs
Then, there are the physical signs of too much sugar consumption. Which of these do you recognize?
The third sign is acne. Depending on the type of sugar, it could lead to inflammation in the body and that’s the connection. This is why certain types of foods that are high in sugar can lead to acne.
Next (#4) is weight gain! This one may seem obvious. If you are eating sweets, of course you will start to add pounds. You know deep down if you’ve been eating too many pastries, cookies, or sugary drinks because your butt and your waistline will show you. Look in the mirror and you’ll know.
Biological signs
Now for the biological signs…these are uncomfortable!
In at #5 of the 8 signs you are eating too much sugar is Migraines. Migraines suck! If you’ve ever had a migraine, you know what I’m talking about. They come on strong and can last for days! That can really cause disruption in your life.
Next (#6) is leaky gut. Is leaky gut real? If you have it, you know that it is. It’s time to do something about your diet so that you don’t get inflammation / leaky gut. Not fun!
#7 of the 8 signs you are eating too much sugar is hormonal issues. Do you have fibroids? What about heavy menstrual bleeding. You may not associate any of this with food (or sugar) but again, all that inflammation is wreaking havoc on our bodies.
And, the last sign: Always being hungry. If you feel hungry ALL the time, it’s because your blood sugar isn’t being regulated. It goes up, then it comes crashing down. When we don’t maintain a level blood sugar, we won’t feel good and we will always feel hungry. Keeping our blood sugar at a good level will help us feel better as well as look better.
