Natural Remedies for Anger
Anger is closely linked to Depression. If you do something because you are angry, it could end up making you feel guilty and that could turn into depression. The longer you are depressed, could make it harder for you to deal with your emotions which can turn into a vicious cycle. So, how do we stop the anger in the first place. Here, I’ll talk about some natural Remedies for Anger that might be helpful.
Disclaimer: if your anger or depression feels out of control and you feel that you might hurt yourself (or someone else), please reach out for help. There are resources available. Also, the suggestions I provide here are only suggestions – they are not a substitute for medical help as I am not a doctor.
Natural mental Health
According to the Prescription for Natural Cures, depression is often linked to improper nutrition. When we aren’t putting healthy foods into our bodies, we can’t function properly and that includes our brains. Have you ever noticed that when you eat “junk food” such as potato chips, frozen dinners or fast food and sugary drinks, you may not feel at your best. You feel sluggish / tired, bloated and even sometimes “foggy”. But, when you eat a healthy – such as when you eat fruits, vegetables, and drink lots of water (non-flavored), you actually feel really good. Your body feels good as does your brain. That fogginess isn’t there and you can think more clearly. You may also notice that you have a more even-tempered mood. (Others may notice this as well!) There’s a lot you can do in a natural way for mental health.
Calming spices
When we’re anxious or angry, we need to find a way to calm down. Sometimes that can be hard. Meditation is one way to calm yourself, but I know that this isn’t always effective, especially when you are first trying to learn how to calm yourself – at least it doesn’t feel effective. Are there any herbs good for nervous system problem? For times when I feel really anxious, I have made myself a cup of chamomile tea. It does help me calm down a bit and whether it’s from focusing on something else (i.e., making the tea rather than thinking about my issue / anxiety) or sitting down to drink it, either way, it has helped. Sometimes, I will even use Lavender Essential Oil. I’ll put it on a cotton ball and let it sit next to me as I’m drinking my tea. Both lavender and chamomile can help with irritability and lavender can be really helpful for me with nervous tension.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying this cures everything – it doesn’t. But, these are just some natural remedies for anger. I have learned to cope and deal with the anxiety – although it did take me a long time to master and there’s always room for improvement. Other essential oils I like to use, depending on my “mood” are:
- Frankincense – can be helpful for times we feel fearful
- Bergamot – good for anxiety and to help calm, can help with depression
- Sandalwood – this oil is calming and can help with depression
I’m sure there are other supplements for racing thoughts, but this is just what I have tried with good results. Try making yourself a cup of herbal tea and light a candle to see if the change in action can change your thinking which can change your state of anxiety, anger or depression. It’s worth a try for Day 20 of our 30-day Challenge during Suicide Prevention Month.
