Nutritional Supplements for Acne

With busy lives, it can be difficult to get the nutrients we need from food.  We’re constantly running and it can be hard to prepare healthful meals.  We end up with problematic skin but there are some nutritional supplements for acne that you can try.

What are nutritional supplements?

Basically, you are supplementing your diet with nutrients.  So, if you aren’t getting all your vitamins and minerals in food, you are supplementing it with vitamins ensuring that you are getting the adequate amount that is recommended.  This can come in capsule, tablet or even liquid form.

Vitamin A (a fat soluble vitamin) is great for your immune system and it’s been said to help with reproduction.  Since it is a fat soluble vitamin, you will need to take it with some form of fat and protein – otherwise, it may not absorb as well.  For skin related issues, this vitamin can be helpful but do not take too much of it because it can be toxic.  You should always check with your doctor to see if you have any deficiencies and then they can suggest the dosage for your situation.

Zinc is needed to help with skin issues like cuts or scrapes and helps your collagen stay healthy.  This is a great supplement to try if you have acne because you may be low in zinc.

Omega fatty acids – so healthy for you but you need the right balance between the Omega 3’s and Omega 6’s.
