Other skin exfoliator options

If you suffer from acne, you need to exfoliate.  The good news is you have options.  Here are some other skin exfoliator options you can try.

Other skin exfoliator options

It may seem odd that I may be promoting other skin exfoliator options, being that Nutt So Ruff is an exfoliator based product line, but if you know anything about us, you know that our main goal has always been to educate and help the public.  Ever since I was a teenager and struggled with acne and the self-esteem issues that go along with it, I vowed to figure out my own skin.  When I realized I was just being marketed to, I started to research what my skin actually needed vs. what those marketers said I needed.

If you’re frustrated over ineffective acne products, I get it.  This is why I like to give you other skin exfoliator options.

Acne prone skin and sensitive skin

With either acne prone skin or sensitive skin, you want to use a product that is easy on your skin.  This is the exact reason Nutt So Ruff offers a face scrub bar because it is the most gentle – not only for your face but also for other sensitive skin areas.  The last thing you want to do is irritate your skin.  For example, you don’t want to use a high concentration of benzoyl peroxide cream.  It can only dry out your skin, which can cause your skin to overproduce oil.  It may seem strange, but that’s what happens.  But, like I said, you do have other options.

Benefits of exfoliating

I love exfoliating!  It’s such an easy and inexpensive way to manage many skin types, as long as you use the right exfoliator and don’t overdo it.

How often should you exfoliate?  Hint:  it depends on your skin type.  Exfoliating is great because it removes dead skin cells that clog pores and can actually help with acne.  Again, as long as you don’t overdo it.

So, what are these other skin exfoliator options?

Your options

Aside from scrub bars, the other exfoliating options are called acids.  There are 3 groups:

  1. Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s)
  2. Polyhydroxy Acids (PHA’s)
  3. Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA’s)

These exfoliators work differently.  I’m sure you’ve seen them.  For example, AHA’s consist of any of the following:  glycolic acid, lactic acid, or citric acid.  Gluconolactone acid falls in the PHA category.  Finally, an example of BHA’s is salicylic acid. So, you do have options when it comes to exfoliating.  With acid exfoliators, make sure you use sunscreen because your skin can be extra sensitive to the sun.
