Twelve Foods to help Improve Skin
Even though I enjoy sweets, I am a big proponent of healthy eating habits. Here’s twelve foods to help improve skin (and mood). The better you feed your body and mind, the healthier you will be. You’ll also notice an improvement in how you feel, both physically and mentally.
Twelve Foods to help Improve Skin
- Tomatoes – did you know that tomatoes can actually help protect against sunburn? Amazing! This is why it is #1 on the list of twelve foods to help improve skin.
- Nuts – so yummy. My favorite nut is the almond (duh!) but I also enjoy peanuts (as in peanut butter), cashews and pistachios. Walnuts are also really good for you but these aren’t actually my favorite. I try to eat as much as I can but walnuts are harder for me because they are so bitter.
- Fish – both nuts and fish contain omega 3 fatty acids and can help hydrate skin and may lessen wrinkles. So, if you find your skin to be dry, try adding this to your diet. (Don’t eat your Nutt So Ruff scrub bar, though!!!)
- Kiwis – these are so tangy and delicious.
- Blueberries – blueberries contain antioxidants which help with free radicals.
- Sweet potatoes – these contain antioxidants as well as Vitamin C and E to protect against UV damage. I love these baked and mashed!
- Leafy veggies like spinach – help fight cancer – and has Vitamin K. Try to consume 1-2 cups daily.
- Dark Chocolate – helps decrease skin “roughness” and can help circulation. I never used to like dark chocolate. Now, I love it and will have a small piece almost daily!
- Red meat from grass fed beef – lots of protein and vitamins
- White kidney beans – I use this in soups.
- Yogurt – these are all high in zinc and are good for collagen
- Green tea – an antioxidant to help with inflammation

Personally, I’m partial to the nuts, fish, blueberries, sweet potatoes, yogurt, and of course, chocolate! But, use any combination of these Twelve foods to help improve skin. I’d be willing to bet you’ll notice a difference in how you look AND feel!!!
