Will Coconut Oil Clog Pores

Are you always leery of trying skin care product for fear of breaking out?  Coconut oil is a great ingredient but will coconut oil clog pores?

Ingredients in Skin Care

Paying attention to the ingredients in your skin care products is wise.  If you suffer from any kind of skin issue, it’s a necessary evil to read skin care ingredient labels.  Otherwise, you can find yourself with red, irritated skin or a face full of blemishes.  All that turns into emotional turmoil because you feel you can’t possibly leave the house looking like that.

If it’s on your face, that’s awful but when it extends to your back, neck, and chest – it’s even worse because now you have to be mindful of what you can wear.  Only being able to choose things that cover up your problem areas can be tough.  Reading labels is key.  You can always check it against our Skin Care Ingredient Checker.

What happens if the ingredients look OK – i.e. all natural?  For example, coconut oil or olive oil.  Then, you ask yourself, ‘Will coconut oil clog pores?’

Will Coconut Oil Clog Pores

There are a few pore clogging ingredients.  And, one of them is coconut oil.  As much as I love coconut oil in the kitchen and even in some skin care, I do have to be careful that whatever I am using on my face, neck, shoulders or back does not contain this ingredient.

I once made the mistake of making a headache balm, using coconut oil.  I was so excited to use it until I realized that it’s going to go on my face.  Duh!  So, I rubbed it only on my temples.  The next day, I had pimples in my hair line.  I knew better but had a really bad headache and truly, I wanted to try it to see how it would work.  Coconut oil, coupled with some key essential oils, was sure to be a winner…except that it will clog pores.

A better alternative would have been for me to use sweet almond oil, which is lighter, in my concoction.  So like me, read labels and understand them before you use them and possibly cause a break out.
