How do you know if you have a hormone imbalance
If you’re struggling with a few health issues that make you feel just a little off, how do you know if you have a hormone imbalance that is causing it?
Health issues
If you are in your 30’s or 40’s – or maybe even in your 20’s – you may be experiencing some things in your body that you don’t know how to interpret. Either you don’t feel quite right or you don’t like the way you look. Let’s explore both of these…
Not feeling quite right
If you have a lot of bloating, especially around your period, you just don’t feel great. Your body is expanding and it doesn’t make you feel good. Or maybe you feel slugging and tired all the time. You attribute it to not sleeping well lately but you don’t know why. Other things you may be experiencing:

- Stress, anxiety, and depression – you just aren’t happy and don’t feel much like going out into the world or if you do venture out, it causes a lot of strife. Mentally, you don’t feel well. This can lead to stress induced skin issues.
- Inflammation – You may notice it in your joints or you may not even know you have inflammation in your body.
- Heavy periods – heavy period flooding is a problem for you. When you are on your period, it may last a long time and you just never feel good. Whether it’s from the low iron or the fact that you are worried about going out of the house for fear you will have an ‘accident’, this is stopping you from living.
- Migraines / headaches – if you get frequent headaches or even migraines, take note.
Don’t like the way you look
Are you suffering from acne or a multitude of skin disorders, you just don’t like the way you look. You would rather cover up and stay inside because you wish that your skin was ‘perfect’. Unfortunately, nothing is perfect – but I would argue that you are perfect in your own way. I do understand, though, that any skin problems you are experiencing can have its toll. We have the right to want to look healthy, vibrant, and acne free.
With all that said, how do you know if you have a hormone imbalance?

How do you know if you have a hormone imbalance?
Good question and the answer is that you most likely have a hormone imbalance if you are experiencing any of these issues. For me, my first sign was the acne but I accepted it because I didn’t know better otherwise. It wasn’t until I started to deal with perimenopause (even though I didn’t know I was going through it at the time) that I knew something wasn’t right.

Heavy periods were a huge problem. I didn’t want to leave the house. I felt awful all the time. Acne was a problem. I would get migraines every month. All of this came on gradually. First, it was the acne, then it was the embarrassment. Eventually, I had to deal with excessive periods which really took a toll on my emotional state. So, how do you know if you have a hormone imbalance? This is how…
If your body isn’t functioning the way you know it should, something is off. It’s time to visit your doctor to figure out what is wrong. I’m a firm believer in eating well 90% of the time to help reverse some of these issues. Your doctor can help guide you, whether that is determining your nutritional needs or where your hormone levels may be off. When you rebalance, you’ll start feeling better and looking better.
If you’re not eating well, sleeping enough, or drinking too much alcohol and not enough water, our bodies are going to get off balance. It’s time to reverse that.
