Hot Bod
It’s time to get our bodies ready for spring break but eating dessert wouldn’t be the way to do it! If you want a hot bod, focus on healthy eating.
Desserts, desserts! Yum!
All the desserts in a bakery case look so delicious – it can be hard to resist!!! I know it is for me! It’s so hard to stay away. While I think it’s OK to indulge every now and again, we don’t want to do this all the time. Now is the time to start thinking about it. We’ve finished off the Holidays and maybe stuck to a New Year’s Resolution for a few weeks, but now spring is just around the corner (although, lately, it doesn’t feel like it with all the cold weather around). But, I digress…getting back on track…Holiday eating, New Year’s Resolutions…
Changing focus
Now that spring is coming soon, we may be thinking about going on vacation and we want to look our best in our bathing suits. The only way to do that is to eat right and exercise and drink plenty of water. It’s hard, I know. I had an especially hard time these past few months. It seems like every time I turned around, there was another Holiday Party to go to – more so than usual. And, while I generally do pretty well and not overindulging, it was harder because of those reasons.
So, now it’s time to have some self control so that I can look and feel good if / when I go on spring break vacation. At least it’s a goal to reach!!! How well do you do…especially when you have an end goal in the back of your mind?
My re-focus technique
It’s easy to overeat in the winter because we’re so cold and we’re stuck inside. Plus, the Holidays are part of it and soon we realize we’ve eaten too much and not enough of the right things. So, how can we refocus? If you’re anything like me, you start to get sick of how you feel by January. You’re tired all the time and just feel sluggish. Some of that could be because of the bad food and some of it is just because you’re stuck inside. I start getting back on track by getting back to a routine.
Routines are great because they just feel comfortable. It’s nice to change things up from time to time but I always like the routine. I’ll set a schedule that’s flexible enough so that things can move, but knowing that there are things I want to accomplish that day or that week. That way, a hot bod is just around the corner.
My routine
My week starts on Sunday where I plan the rest of the week. Sundays are also my cleaning days so I feel good about my surroundings. This is how it shakes out for me:
- Sunday – clean, plan the week. Meditate! Visit my parents.
- Monday – Meal plan for the following week. Get grocery list together.
- Tuesday – Grocery shop
- Wednesday – Keep open for miscellaneous things that come up.
- Thursday – my chill day
- Friday – visit in-laws, chill.
- Saturday – run errands.
These are the things that need to be done and I don’t want them to slide so I stick to this schedule. It’s wide open enough any day can be interchangeable with another. Then, I add in 3 days of a 30-minute exercise, and 2 days of stretching for 20 minutes. If I can get a 3rd day of stretching, I do it. I also add in walking time – if the weather is good, I’ll walk outside; if not, my trusty treadmill is in the basement. The meal planning is helpful so that I know what I need to buy at the grocery store. Planning also helps to ensure I’m eating healthier because that’s what I plan on buying so that’s what I have on hand to make. If you want a hot bod, this is a good way to do it. It keeps you on track! You’ll feel better, there will be less inflammation and you’ll look better too!
