  1. Fragrance – or any kind of perfume.  This is a huge one for me.  Not only do I start sneezing whenever I open something that has a lot of fragrance in it, but it also causing my skin to turn bright red.  I stay away from any artificial fragrance or perfumes.  (Note:  essential oils may or may not have the same effect as fragrances and some may actually be OK.)  Always look for “fragrance free” products.
  2. Alcohol – alcohol will tend to dry out your skin, taking away its natural oils.  We actually need oil for the lubrication of our skin so to strip it of these oils can actually make your skin overcompensate by producing more oil.  So, stay away from products that contain alcohol like isopropyl or denatured.
  3. Sulfates – Oh, the sulfates.  We already know that sulfates can be a problem for our hormones but did you know that they can also contribute to acne?  Yep, they can so stay away from this one too.

So, there you have it, these are my top 3 ingredients to avoid for acne.  Avoid these and you will have an easier time managing your acne prone skin.
