You’re not alone

I won’t argue that life is hard.  We suffer in silence but I want you to know that you’re not alone.  No one get’s out of it unscathed.  There are some people that start out with an amazing life – parents that are attentive, caring, and loving.  For others, that luxury isn’t there unfortunately.  In either situation,  life is never perfect and we all have specific personalities that dictate how we may deal with our life situations.  Even if the beginning was good, something could have happened along the way that changed your view of the world.

The fortunate

If your life started out in a loving home with 2 parents, siblings, a dog, a beautiful home, etc., you are one of the fortunate.

However, even with a good start, you may not feel good inside.  There could be many reasons for this.  Perhaps something happened to you during this time and despite a loving family, they may not have had the tools to help you deal with it.  Or, maybe they couldn’t deal with it themselves so they wished it away without dealing with it.  We all know that whenever we don’t deal with something, it doesn’t go away and we carry it around with us for a long time.   Please know you’re not alone.

The unfortunate

On the other hand, if your life started out in less than an ideal situation, it’s been hard from the start.  There are many different scenarios.  A death in the family – a parent, a sibling, a friend.  Perhaps there was drug or alcohol abuse in the home.  This can make for a very chaotic and unstable life that leaves a child feeling scared and lonely.  When there’s uncertainty and fear, depression isn’t far behind.  The stress and anxiety you feel is normal but treatable.  Please know you’re not alone.
