How to get pimples

Tired of dealing with pimples?  How to get pimples to go away entails understanding how to deal with them, including knowing your skin type.

How to get Pimples

When you have acne, all you can think about is getting rid of it.  You hear of so many things that can contribute to acne.  There are 3 main reasons you’ll often hear about:

  1. Diet – While diet can play a role in how our skin looks and feels, it’s often a little misleading.  I’ll go into this in a little more detail below so keep reading.
  2. Hygiene – of course, we need to wash our faces but frequency is often the problem.
  3. Stress – ah, stress – it can hurt everything.

Diet and acne

This is a big topic among acne sufferers.  Your diet can affect how your skin looks but understanding what is actually going on is the key.  The problem with diet and how it affects acne is that the processed foods you may be eating isn’t causing the acne directly.  It’s the inflammation that is produced by that kind of diet that actually causes the acne.  So, diet and acne are intertwined but not because greasy foods make you oily.  Trans fats really are bad for us.

So, eating a healthy diet is key.  Plus, if you notice that certain foods make you break out, stop eating those foods.  And, drink lots and lots of water – it helps to flush out your system.

Hygiene and acne

The best advice I can give is to not overdo your skincare routine.  If you scrub your face all the time, you can make your breakouts worse.  There is no way to scrub away acne.  If you wash too much, you can dry out your skin and then your skin will compensate by producing more oil to replace what you washed away.  More oil = more acne blemishes.

I recommend washing your face 2 times a day.  If you sweat a lot (like after playing sports), then rinse your face with fresh water.

Another thing about how to get pimples to go away when it comes to hygiene.  Stop touching your skin where you break out!  Just stop!  Don’t touch, don’t pick and don’t squeeze.  You are making it worse!  The dirt and oil can get deep into the acne and can make it last longer.  It can also develop into the more severe type of acne cysts.  That’s the last thing you want.

Lastly, if you are prone to acne breakout s, you may want to stop tanning.  Some people think that the sun will help dry out the acne / oil.  While it may seem like it is helping, it won’t make your acne go away.  When you dry out your skin – either from the sun or from acne drying products, your skin will produce more oil to compensate for the loss of oil.  And, did you know that tanning can make your skin thicker?  Thicker skin can turn into more clogged pores.

Another option (if you must have a ‘tan’), is to spray tan.   Here is more information if you want to go this route:

Stress and acne

If you’re one of those people who tend to sweat a lot, change your clothes more often.  For me, I tend to get anxious and more stressed out when I have to speak in front of people or I have a large project I’m working on.  Also, after playing sports or working out.  I wear looser fitting clothes and I will wash off in the shower after excessive sweating.  I don’t need to use soap.  You just want to rinse of the sweat so it doesn’t clog your pores that will lead to a breakout.

You should also pay attention to what you are putting on your skin.  This includes your phone (against your face) and any products that you are using on your skin.  If you are using anything that is oil based and you have acne issues, you should switch.  It might be better to go with a more natural look than to use foundations that won’t let your skin breath and that clogs your pores.  For me, I can’t use anything on my face that even has coconut oil in it because it will break me out.  Coconut oil is too heavy for acne prone skin types.

Lastly, keep your hair off your face because the oils in your hair can be transferred to your skin.  And, change your sheets frequently.

So, acne and pimples are one in the same – it’s just knowing exactly what you have and then figuring out how to control them.  If you want to know how to get pimples to go away, try these tips.  You may just find that your skin clears up nicely (and naturally).
