I don t know how to get better

If you don’t know how to get better, I understand.  Life is hard and you may not feel like things will change.  I’m here to tell you that it can and it will but it will take some effort on your part.  So, let’s start Day 6 of the 30 day challenge for self confidence and bring awareness during Suicide Prevention Week!

I don’t know how to get better

If this is your internal monologue, I know how you feel.  It’s a lonely, empty feeling.  No one seems to understand and you don’t see a way out of how you’re feeling.  In Days 1 and 2 of the 30 day challenge self confidence, we talked about releasing our emotions.  This is so important.  We often feel like we need to stay strong.  Or, maybe you are afraid if you “let go”, you’ll never “come back”.  But, you need to feel your feelings and have a way to get them out.  Crying is a way to do this.

This doesn’t mean you feel sorry for yourself and dwell on things.  What this means is you feel the emotions you are feeling.  That’s the first step to dealing with them.  Cry it out.  If you have a trusted friend and you can cry on their shoulder, great.  But, if you don’t – that’s fine too.  I’ve had times in my life where I had no one to turn to.  Unfortunately, that happens sometimes.  You are strong enough and can get through this – with or without someone’s help.  Trust me.

Overcoming low self esteem with mindfulness – Day 6 of the 30 day self confidence challenge

  1. Start by just being aware of your surroundings – really look at them.
  2. Notice what you see then notice what’s in your head.
  3. What thoughts to you have?
  4. How is your mood?  How do you feel?  Just notice.

The point here is to take steps to become mindful of what you have going on – internally and externally.  Just watch, notice, feel.  This will be your practice for the next couple of days.
