What do clay masks do

There’s a lot of mystery to skin care and it doesn’t have to be that way.  One of the mysteries are with clay masks.  What do clay masks do?  Are they worth doing?

What are clay masks for?

There are actually various types of masks and clay is just one of them.  In general, masks help with unclogging pores and exfoliating your skin.  Those are the biggest clay mask benefits for skin.  With normal use, you’ll see a definite difference in how your skin looks and feels.

Specifically, if you have oily skin and / or are prone to getting acne breakouts, these types of masks can really help your pores.  Your skin will feel great!  Every time I use a clay mask, my skin doesn’t feel as oily and I love how it feels.  That’s what do clay masks do!

What do clay masks do?

In addition to unclogging those pores, using a mask on your face can even remove toxins because it’s pulling it out of your skin.  Think about it, your skin is an outlet for toxins – being filtered out by your lymph nodes.  Lymph nodes are like little filters for your body – removing the bad stuff.  With masking, you are just helping those lymph nodes by allowing the clay to pull those toxins out.  How amazing?!

When should you mask?

We’ve already seen that there are clay mask benefits for skin but you can get even more bang for your buck if you use one after you do your regular exfoliation.  This will help you get the most benefit – drawing out those impurities and oil and really helping to get those pores clear.  Then, after that – use your serums and moisturizers.

Skin care regimen order

To recap, here is the order of your skin care regimen that you should follow:

  1. Remove your make-up with a gentle make-up remover.  Here’s a recipe for a Micellar Water you can make yourself.
  2. Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser.  Check back often for our gentle cleanser that we offer periodically.
  3. Exfoliate!  So important!  Of course, I’m partial to the Nutt So Ruff Face scrub.  This is as needed, based on skin type.
  4. Use a mask to draw out more impurities.  Do once a month or once a week, you choose.
  5. Apply Eye Cream.
  6. Now, apply your face serum.
  7. Apply moisturizer.
  8. Apply sunscreen.

This may seem like a long list, but think about it?  How long will it actually take you?  Remember, you don’t need to exfoliate every day.  It depends on your skin type.  Then, apply your creams, etc.  You’ll uncover your beautiful skin in no time!
