Blood sugar balance
Blood sugar is one of those things people don’t concern themselves with unless they’ve been told by a doctor that they have some sort of blood sugar issue like diabetes or hypoglycemia. But, blood sugar balance is important for everyone in order for the body to function properly…and that includes hormone health.
The Carb effect
I don’t think I know anyone that doesn’t like carbs. Although I do know some people who don’t have a sweet tooth necessarily. Carbs and sugar can cause our blood sugar levels to skyrocket and it all depends on how much sugar we are consuming.

For those who do not have a sweet tooth, you can still have an issue if you aren’t eating healthy foods. For example, if you are constantly eating out or eating pre-packaged foods, there are hidden sugars in those foods and you could be unknowingly eating unwanted sugar.

When carbs / sugar are eaten, the blood glucose level in your body rises but then it has to come down. If you’ve ever had a sweet dessert and then didn’t feel right about an hour or so later, this is a sign your sugar level dipped below what it should be. You need blood sugar balance – otherwise, you will definitely feel the mid-afternoon fatigue so many of us complain about.

Other issues with eating too much sugar
- Low energy
- Sleep issues
- Anxiety
- Alzheimer’s disease (more on this later)
- PMS
- Headaches
- Moodiness
Get your blood sugar under control
We’ll talk more about this in the coming days. But for today, I want you to start thinking about your blood sugar. Eventually, we’ll try a blood glucose log.

But, for now, start noticing the foods you are eating. Are you eating lots of vegetables or are you eating packaged foods. If you are eating packaged foods, look at the food labels. This will help you to see how many grams of sugar is hidden in the food. Pay particular attention to the serving size. Are you eating the correct portion or is it 2 or 3 times that amount. If so, you’ll need to multiply the sugar by that amount.

For example, if you are eating a store-bought cookie and the grams of sugar say 200 but you had 3 in a day (or even in one sitting), you need to multiply 200 by 3, which equals 600 grams of sugar in one day! This is why a blood sugar log will be important. So, do the blood sugar balance dance to start monitoring your blood sugar.
