Is your body toxic
Household cleaners can be very toxic but what about your personal care products, including lotions, tampons and make up? Is your body toxic and you don’t know it?
Personal care products
By personal care products, I mean anything that you use on your body. Examples are face creams, lotions, moisturizers, eye creams, shampoo / conditioners, hair gel, etc. There are so many chemicals in these things – just look at one label in your bathroom. It’s almost too many to count. These toxic chemicals have been linked to cancer and hormonal issues.

Is your body toxic?
In addition to those personal care products like various moisturizers and hair care products, have you ever thought about the ingredients in your feminine hygiene products? I started to! Think pads, tampons, gels, and wipes – basically anything that touches your vagina! Your ‘down there’ is very sensitive and that includes sensitivity to toxins.

Watch for these ingredients:
- Preservatives (these are xenoestrogens)
- Parabens
- Phthalates
- Fragrances
- Oxybenzone (usually in sun blocks)
- Toluene (found in nail polish) – consider making your own nail polish instead.
I don’t know about you but I started to notice (allergic) reactions when I was around perfume. First, it was just some sneezing. Eventually, I got headaches! Now, I can’t even stand the smell of artificially scented candles due to the headaches they bring on. And, what about when you’re in the office and you notice a strong scent of perfume. I go the other way!
Interesting (and scary) fact: Toluene that is used in nail polish is a poison and could affect your nerves! I know we all like our nails to look clean and polished but is it really worth it? Instead make your own nail stain! You can still have great short Valentines Day nails without the toxic effects!
Specific things to watch for in feminine care products:
- Fragrances – why do they even have to put a scent on it?
- Unnatural fibers (i.e. something other than cotton – something man-made)
- Cotton that has been treated with pesticides – yes! Pesticides!
- Bleach
- Dyes

The bottom line
So, is your body toxic? Most likely, yes! Please, please, please read the labels of the products that you buy and start considering where you can make some changes. If your body is toxic, it’s time to make some healthy changes. Start by making some changes to your skin care products to exclude those that contain the above chemicals. Then, start looking at other feminine products and what changes you can make there. Start detoxing your liver today!
