Period acne
Do you notice that you get more acne before your period? I call this period pimples. Many women do, especially about a week prior to the start of menstruation. But, some find it more problematic during their period. Either way, period acne is very common; a majority of women suffer from it.
Period acne cause
They say the cause of the acne is hormonal so there isn’t anything you can do. Or is there? Generally, if you go to a gynecologist, they are going to tell you that the only medical treatment is getting on the pill – the birth control pill! Really, that’s the only course of action to help here?

I don’t believe it. The more and more I research, I am finding this may not actually be the case. And, in the coming months, I will attempt to disprove this theory. And, it’s not that your doctor is trying to lie to you. It’s just that they believe that your hormones are low and so the most logical answer is to use hormone therapy to increase the hormones you are deficient in. So, follow me on this journey to see if there is actually something else we can do besides getting on birth control.

Until then, it doesn’t hurt to still have good hygiene. If your skin is excessively oily or dirty, you’ll want to make sure you cleanse regularly (but not too much where you are stripping away natural and needed oils). The idea is to pay attention to your skin. Cleanse it but don’t overdo it.
And, of course, exfoliation is part of it. The more oil and dirt you have on your skin, the more your pores will get clogged. Keep a good hygiene regimen, paying particular attention around the times you may experience more acne.
