Runners snack
After a run, you need a good snack to replenish some energy. Here’s my runners snack that you can try to feel great after your workout!
Why snack after a run?
After burning all kinds of energy running (or any workout for that matter), you need to refuel. You’ve just expended all your energy running and though you may feel energized, your body is feeling tired. Having a snack can really help you even better!
Runners snacks I recommend
- Nuts
- Hard boiled egg
- Nut butter (I suggest almond butter) and an apple
- A Veggie Smoothie
Veggie Smoothie recipe for a runners snack
Try this veggie smoothie using simple ingredients:
- Spinach
- Coconut water
- Mango and
- Banana
Mix all in a blender until smooth. There’s no need to add any sugar – it’s actually sweet enough with the fruit you add. And, be sure to use 100% coconut water for the electrolytes that you’ll need to replenish after a run. It’s so delicious and just what your body needs!
Did you know? There’s a lot of potassium in coconut water – which is needed after exercise. It’s a natural sports drink and a great runners snack. So, next time you need to re-hydrate, grab some coconut water and make an awesome smoothie! Do NOT grab the gatorade! Yuck!
