Dysfunctional uterine bleeding
If you’re bleeding in between period, this is called Dysfunctional uterine bleeding or sometimes Abnormal Uterine Bleeding. It feels like you are having more than 1 period each month since you feel like you are continually bleeding.
What can cause abnormal uterine bleeding?
If you are someone who’s been dealing with dysfunctional uterine bleeding, it’s no fun. It can make you not want to enjoy life – for fear of not being able to get to a bathroom. It is awful and can be embarrassing. You might feel like people know what is happening (although they most likely don’t – unless you’ve told them – my guess is you haven’t said a word to anyone because you’re embarrassed.) So, if you are dealing with this, what can cause abnormal uterine bleeding?
Stress is a BIG one! And, when we are stressed, we tend to not take care of ourselves as well. We don’t get enough sleep or we don’t eat / drink well. Sometimes you’ll enjoy too much cake or ice cream all because you are trying to cope with the stressful events in your life. Is this you?

If the stressful event is continual – such as from a stressful job, a divorce, a family health issue – it is particularly difficult on our bodies. Stress is a Witch – with a B!

3 Sure Signs of Dysfunctional uterine bleeding
- Bleeding after your period officially ends – like a period twice in one month.
- Bleeding after sex
- Always bleeding – like it never stops.
In a word – it sucks! You may think your period stopped and then, low and behold, you’re still bleeding. It is devastating. On top of it all, you’re losing so much blood that you are also probably anemic!
Other causes (besides stress)
- Your hormones are off. Usually, low progesterone (also known as high estrogen)
- Fibroids – you’ll need some tests to determine this.
- Certain types of birth control – yep, as convenient as this is, it could be hurting you in other ways.

Conclusion
So, if you are experiencing this bleeding that is abnormal, go see your doctor. This is NOT normal. And, therefore, it’s not something you just need to live with. Something isn’t right. At the very least, make sure you don’t have something else going on.
After that, if you have fibroids and / or if your hormones are out of whack, this is good to know so you can do something about it. It may mean that you need surgical intervention because of the grapefruit sized fibroid growing inside you. Or, if your progesterone is low, there are things you can do to deal with this. Either way, it’s important to know what’s going on so that you can make informed decisions about what to do with your body so that you can enjoy your life and have a quality life. A quality of life is so important for your happiness and your mental health.
