Pregnenolone for women
The second set of hormones we’ll be talking about is DHEA and pregnenolone. The first set of hormones were Cortisol and Insulin. Each hormone is important to know how they function in your body and why pregnenolone for women and DHEA are important to your wellbeing.
DHEA pregnenolone
I’m not a doctor but I have done research on hormones because of the issues I’ve had. The good news for you is I won’t get technical; however, I do want to give some basic information so that you understand what’s going on. This helped me to understand my body and what’s really happening with your hormones.
The hormones I want to talk about today are DHEA and pregnenolone. Both these hormones are manufactured in the adrenal glands and making sure they are balanced is important so we function properly. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the adrenal glands are located near your kidneys. Let’s take a look at each of these hormones individually.

Pregnenolone for women
Pregnenolone is transformed from cholesterol to make other hormones. Quite amazing what your body can do, isn’t it? It is the harbinger for progesterone and cortisol. It keeps neurons safe and it can help the following:
- Memory – who doesn’t need help with memory as we age!
- Motivation – yes, sometimes we need an extra boost of motivation
- Mood – can you say ‘crabby’. Do you ever feel anxious or a little ‘blue’?

This hormone helps with the following:
- sleep
- PMS issues
- keeping us healthier
DHEA
Where pregnenolone helps with progesterone and cortisol, DHEA is the harbinger for estrogen and testosterone BUT it still comes from pregnenolone. This hormone helps with:
- decreasing inflammation
- decreasing belly fat
- increasing libido
- helping elevate mood.

But, don’t think you should just increase this hormone. It sounds nice that your mood would be better, you’d get slimmer and you’d have a greater sex drive – but, remember I said that all these hormones work together. In this case, if you increase DHEA, you may feel more moody, get more acne and hair growth! Yikes! So, be mindful of this. It’s a balance!

But, obviously Pregnenolone for women is an important hormone and Pregnenolone and DHEA work well together. But, make sure you work with your doctor if you think you’d like to supplement with these or any hormones. So, so far we’ve learned that Cortisol, Insulin, Pregnenolone and DHEA are very important in our bodies and we need to have them in the right amounts so that our bodies function properly.

It’s good to know that having the right amounts of each is what we need to feel better. Who would have thought that your lack of motivation might be because you are low in a certain hormone. I know it’s a lot to take in but it’s good to understand how these hormones work together.
Tomorrow, next we’ll talk about Estrogen, Progesterone and testosterone.
