Natural ways to detox liver

There are many natural ways you can detox your liver.  There’s no need to buy detox systems.  Below is a list of liver detox foods you can try today.  If you’ve come to find natural ways to detox liver, you’ve come to the right place!

Reasons to Detox your liver

You’ve probably heard of liver detox or you’ve known someone who has tried this.  For me, I would be talking to someone who has said they were doing a detox.  When I asked them about it, they said that they drank too much over the weekend and thought it would be a good idea to detox.  Thankfully, this wasn’t a normal occurrence for them although I do question why someone would want to drink too much because I never feel good after drinking too much.  But, I’m not here to judge – I get it, sometimes you are just having a good time and the next thing you know, you’ve had a little too much.

The other reason I have heard of why someone was detoxing was because they had been eating badly.  Think fast food, junk food, or processed food.  Another good reason to naturally detox liver for sure!

I totally understood, though, why they’d want to detox after drinking more than they should.  Not only does alcohol affect your hormones, but it can also affect your skin.  And, it can make your skin age!  We don’t want or need that!

I am not one to drink a lot of alcohol but I will enjoy a drink here or there.  I knew there were natural ways to detox liver but wasn’t sure which foods can help so I started my research to find out.  Here is what I came up with.

6 Food Types you can eat for natural ways to detox liver

There are several liver detox foods and here is a list of just 6 – pick and choose.  I’m sure you’ll be able to find a few you like.

  1. Get your greens on!  You knew this was going to be at the top of the list!  Lettuces such as spinach, beet greens, kale and red or green leaf lettuces are top notch.  My favorites are spinach and beet greens.  Kale is probably my least favorite unless it’s made into kale chips or fresh, if it has the right dressing on it.
    1. These provide all kinds of nutrients from calcium and magnesium to iron and potassium and even essential vitamins like A, C, E and K.
  2. Sprouts and Microgreens – so yummy!
  3. Beans – not everyone likes beans (or can eat them because of the affect it has on our digestive systems) but these are a great source of B vitamins, which help our menstrual cycles.  So, if you have any issues with your menstrual cycle (i.e. heavy bleeding), I would suggest to try to add more to your diet.  Every little bit will help.
  4. Cruciferous Vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, and cabbage.  With cabbage being my least favorite, I at least have some great options to for these great veggies.
  5. Other veggies like carrots, sweet potatoes, beets, acorn squash and even pumpkin.  Of this list, I love sweet potatoes, beets and acorn squash.  All these are great roasted.
  6. Fruit – Fruits such as raspberries, apricots and watermelon.  Fruits are great for you because of the nutrients and fiber (i.e. when you eat apricots with the skin on) but they also contain sugars and even though they are natural sugars, you still need to limit how much you eat.  Just make sure you are getting more veggies than fruit and you’ll be OK.
