Self-Care Ideas
Do you burn the candle at both ends? If so, you’re not only hurting your health, but your skin. Here are some self-care ideas for wellness at home that could uncover your beautiful skin!
Burning the midnight oil
Are you career focused or life focused? Maybe you stay up late to get that presentation out before the clock hits midnight or perhaps you’re doing everything for your family without giving yourself a break. Either way, you may be running yourself too much and it will take a toll on your health and your skin.

Stress and Goals!
Stress is hard on our bodies and we know that stress can kill you. Still, we allow it to control our lives because we think we can do it all. However, when the stress is taking away our focus of what we want to accomplish in life (i.e. what is truly important), it becomes unhealthy.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t have goals but life has a tendency to creep up on us. We may be doing well one day and then suddenly we’re overwhelmed. It’s these times that we need to take a step back. Life is a journey – not a race, as they say. Sometimes, though, it’s hard to recognize when we need to slow down – until our bodies break down or our face looks like we’ve been through a war.

Self-care ideas
Here is my list of self-care ideas that are worth striving for:

- Sleep – this is number 1 on my list. If I don’t get enough sleep, I barely function. My brain just doesn’t work. I do know that this may be one of the harder ones to achieve because, with demanding families, it gets hectic. Yet, it is still #1 and we should strive for getting more sleep.
- Exercise – We gotta get up and move – even if it’s only a 30-minute walk around the block. Another idea is that when you take your kids to the playground, play with them! Play in the yard – you can play catch or frisbee. I don’t care what it is, but you need to get moving. Exercise is so important for your body.
- Meditate to manage stress and anxiety- a lot of people have a hard time meditating because their minds won’t shut off. I was (am) one of them. It’s hard! The only way to deal with this is to keep trying because I can tell you for a fact that persistence will help. The more you do it, the better you get at it. It doesn’t mean that once it’s worked that the next day your mind won’t race – but what it does mean is that your body is getting the benefit from taking a moment. And, if that moment is 5 minutes or 1 hour, it doesn’t matter. Manage that stress. It’s good for your mental health.
- Positivity – life is hard and it can really suck sometimes! But, it will pass – it always does. Life goes on and it’s better if we have a good outlook on life. Enjoy it as much as you can.
- Healthy diet – you know you shouldn’t be eating that fast food or any processed foods. Busy lives turn into microwave meals. Don’t beat yourself up. Strive to make salads one day a week. That one day will turn into two and then three – then maybe more – all because you notice how much better you’re feeling. This will also help heal inflammation in your body.
So, there are the self-care ideas you can use to feel and look better! Good luck with these self-care tips!
